NPOMail Admin

Administration via the Web

Connect to https://npomail.electricembers.net/admin and log in as postmaster@your-domain.org

Creating mailboxes

  1. Log in to the Admin page
  2. Choose [Add Mailbox]
  3. Enter the username, password, real name, and set their quota. Then click the [Add Mailbox] button at the bottom. The page comes back with a success message, ready to add another.
It will take up to 5 minutes for the account to come to life and begin receiving mail. Of course, the user's email program will also have to be set up with the proper settings.

Deleting mailboxes

  1. Log in to the Admin page
  2. Choose [Overview] and then click your domain name.
  3. Find the account you want to remove and click [del] all the way on the right. You will be asked for confirmation.

Forwarding

If you want to temporarily forward someone's mail, you can have that user log in to Webmail and turn on forwarding (Options --> Forwarding and vacation message) themselves, or you can:
  1. Log in to the Admin page
  2. Under ::Mailboxes find the account you want and click [Alias] (to the right)
  3. Replace the To: field with the destination address you want. You can have multiple destination addresses, one per line.
  4. Click the [Edit Alias] button to finish.
If the user will never need a real mailbox in your domain, you should use an Alias rather than a real mailbox.

Aliases

Aliases are not full mailboxes, but simply addresses that point to other addresses. You might use aliases to receive mail for different forms of an address (like firstname@ and firstname.lastname@) all to one real mailbox, or to add "role addresses" like info@ or jobs@.

Aliases can also be used to forward mail to an email account hosted elsewhere, minimizing how many real mailboxes you need.

  1. Log in to the Admin page
  2. Click [Add Alias]
  3. Enter the alias and the address it should go to.
  4. Click the [Add Alias] button.
If you want an alias to deliver to multiple addresses, go to [Overview] find it in the ::Alias section and click edit. Add each additional destination address on its own line, and click the [Edit Alias] button.

Passwords

It is not possible to retrieve a user's password if it is unknown, because it is encrypted. If a password is forgotten, you must simply set a new one.
  1. Log in to the Admin page
  2. Choose [Overview] and then click the domain name.
  3. Find the account you want and click [edit].
  4. Enter a new password (twice) and hit the [Edit Mailbox] button.
Password changes can also be made by the users themselves (unless the current passsword is lost), through Webmail: http://mail.your-domain.org. (Options --> Change password)

[SPAM] and [VIRUS] messages

Our NPOShield system tags likely spam messages with the subject [SPAM], and quarantines viral attachments and tags infected messages with [VIRUS]. These messages are then automatically filtered into folders named Spam and Virus on the server, where users can view them via Webmail or an IMAP client (not POP). Messages in these folders, as in the Trash, will be automatically purged after 14 days.

Other questions

Other functions that are primarily of interest at the user account-level are described in the user guide. If you have admin-level questions that aren't answered here, please contact us!
